Dolores B. Champion
VIRGINIA BEACH - Dolores Faye Belote Champion, 70, of the 2000 block of Kendall St., died at her home March 1, 2007. She was a dearly loved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.
Dolores was born in Roanoke, Va., to Charles Howard Belote Jr. and Roxie Adeline Stultz Belote. She lived most of her life in Norfolk and Virginia Beach. She had been a member of St. Peters Episcopal Church for 20 years and was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church for the past 14 years. Dolores had worked for Sheppard Air-A-Plane Corp. and retired from Ryder Truck Center in 1993 after a career of 15 years. Dolores was preceded in death by her mother and father and a brother, Jerry Randall Belote. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Charles "Chuck" Basnight and J.C. Champion.
Dolores is survived by two sons, Ernest Lee Gray Jr. and Stephen Paul Gray; five grandchildren; a brother, Howard Belote and his wife Florence; and a sister-in-law, Nancy Coons Belote. Dolores spent the last five years of her life with her loving companion, James "Jim" Kehl.
The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Neck Chapel, Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at All Saints Episcopal Church, 1968 Woodside Lane off of Adam Keeling Road, in Virginia Beach with the Rev. Dr. Stanley W. Sawyer officiating. Burial will follow in
