Archibald Richard Sydney James Bellinger was born 1888 Millicent, South Australia; son of Arthur Herman and Annie (nee Bateman) Bellinger. A farmer prior to enlisting in the Australian Imperial Force on 5 July 1915, he embarked from Adelaide for the Suez on 18 November 1915 aboard HMAT "Geelong" (A2). His battalion relocated to the Western Front, France during June 1916. He was wounded in action on 19 July 1916 during the Battle of Fromelles and died of his wounds at the 1st Canadian Casualty Clearing Station, France the following day. He was 33 years of age.
