ACCIDENTALLY KILLED BY BULLET
Frankie Bell, 20, Loses Life When Target Pistol, Held by Brother, Fires
Funeral services for Frankie Bell, Jr., 20-year-old son of Mrs. Pearl Bell of Hayti, were held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the First Baptist Church here with the Rev. J.T. Spurlin, pastor of the church, officiating. The services were directed by Valhalla of Hayti. Burial was in East Woodlawn Cemetery.
The youth died late Friday afternoon after he was accidentally shot by his younger brother, Bobby Bell, age 15. The accident took place about 4:30 o'clock. Frankie died about 15 minutes later in a clinic here.
Coroner Jimmy Osborn who conducted an inquest reported that the shooting was clearly accidental. Bobby was showing Frankie the .22 caliber target pistol when it discharged, the bullet striking Frankie in the left side of the neck just below the jaw bone. The accident occurred at the family home in Hayti Heights.
Besides his mother and the brother who held the pistol, the deceased leaves a sister, Mrs. Jean Hinchey, and two other brothers, Ray and Bill Bell.
