Birth: unknown, Northern Ireland
Death: 1757
Staunton City
Virginia, USA

Evidence that William's wife is buried in this cemetery emanates from the inclusion of her previous interment in the will of her husband, William Bell.

From Colonial Families of the United States

Lineage of James Franklin 82-83 "William Bell, the immigrant ancestor, ...In his will dated 25th July 1757 and probated 17 Aug. 1757, he recommends that his body ""be buried in decent order, as becometh at the Stone Meeting House, close to my beloved wife, lately deceased."

Undocumented family histories suggest one wife may have been named Mary McCown/McGowin. Another source suggests she had died in 1732 prior to William's arrival in Augusta Co., VA, ca. 1746 in which case "Mary" should not have been buried in this cemetery, in which instance a second wife would be possible. Due to the indicated spread of birth dates for the children mentioned in William's will, it is possible a second wife was the mother of Joseph Bell

The wife mentioned in William's will was not identified.
