Leatha Mae Bell, 53, of Cape Girardeau, Mo., died Saturday, Aug. 4, 2001, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. Born Sept. 1, 1947, in Wilson, Ark., she was the daughter of Perllean Davis, of Kennett and the late George Hall. Survivors also include five daughters, Perllean Turner and husband, Robert, of Kennett, Cassandra Oliver, Latasha Herrion and husband, Rodrick, Gerdia Bell and Fanta Lee, all of Columbia, Mo.; one son, Percy Brown, of Columbia; a son-in-law, Jerry Treadwell; five sisters, Georgia Johnson, of Illinois, Ella Hill, of Washington, Gerdia Kinnon and husband, Booker T., of Steele, Mo., Werna Kenny, of California and Maxine Lewis, of Kennett; three brothers, John Lewis, of Texas, Larry Lewis and wife, Ealine Lewis, of Caruthersville and Michael Lewis and wife, Rose, of Kennett and 17 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Bell, one daughter, Shawna Timothy, two sons, Darin Latimore and Terrell Brown and one grandson, Kerwin Johnson. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, at the H.S. Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Caruthersville with Bishop W.H. Johnson, Sr. officiating. Burial was in the Maple Cemetery at Caruthersville. Pallbearers were Jerry Treadwell, Vennis Brown, Antonio Primer, Ivan Johnson, Robert Turner and Ronald Franklin.
