"Briefs From All Around the County - Phillips"
Hattie May Travis was born February 23, 1895, near Giltner, Neb., and departed this life January 18, 1919, at her home at Lincoln, Neb., having attained the age of 23 years, 10 months and 25 days. The deceased was united in marriage to Leon Beers, of Lincoln, Neb., on April 19, 1914. To this union two children were born, the first born dying in infancy. She leaves to mourn her death a loving husband and a little daughter, Lucile, 20 months of age, also a father, mother, two sisters and one brother, her aged grandparents and numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
Saturday evening H. M. Travis and his daughter Fern were notified that Mrs. L. Beers, of Lincoln, was seriously ill, requiring their presence at her bedside. A message came from Mr. Travis Sunday announced her death at 6:45 Satuday evening and the family with the exception of her father and sister, Fern, all being present when the end came. The funeral services were conducted from the Phillips M. E. church Tuesday afternoon, Rev. Ralph Miller of Shelby, being in charge, he being assisted by Rev. R. B. E. Hill, pastor of the Phillips M. E. church. (Omitted here is a long paragraph describing Hattie's union with the church, other events involving her participation in the church and an account of the funeral service.)
Following the church service the remains were taken to the Phillips cemetery where they were gently laid to rest. The bereaved relatives have the abiding sympathy of the entire community.
