Daughter of Richard Phillip and Isabelle Lawson Richard Volkman, moved to Garden County at the age of three, then into Cheyenne County. She attended Chadron State College and taught in rural schools for three years before marrying Lloyd L Schmidt on April 21, 1940 in Scottsbluff Nebraska. After he served in WWII they moved back to Lodgepole until his death in 1964. She married Gale M Beers of Lingle Wyoming on July 20, 1979 in Lodgepole Nebraska. Gale passed away in 1996. She continued to live independently in Lodgepole until 2008 when she moved to Sloan Estates in Sidney.
She is survived by: daugther - Sandra (Rod) Kehl, son - Charles (Doris) Schmidt, step daughter - Kay (Michael) West, stepson - Keith Beers, three granddaughters and three great grandsons. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands: Lloyd and Gale, brothers: John and Arthur and sisters: Edith Jurgens and Muriel Jurgens.
