Hester Beers of Ellington Dies at 82
Mrs. Hester M. Beers, 82, formerly of 308 Central Ave., Falconer, died Wednesday evening (Jan. 30, 1974) at the Battersby Nursing Home, Erie, Pa. She was the widow of Herman W. Beers, who died Oct. 13, 1955.
Mrs. Beers was born in the Town of Conewango, Jan. 13, 1892, the daughter of William and Anna Milks McElwain. She grew up in the Sample Hill area of Randolph. Mrs. Beers moved to Ellington and lived there for 45 years.
She was a member of the Ellington Congregational Church, the Ellington Garden Club and the Auxiliary of the Roger Potwin Post, American Legion, Ellington.
Surviving are two sons, Richard Beers and Edward Beers, both of Falconer; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one brother, Paul McElwain, Java Center. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Eleanor, in 1954, and a son, William, in 1967.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Hoitink Funeral Home, Randolph. The Rev. Martin V. Abrams, pastor of the United Methodist Church of Kennedy, officiated. Burial was in Randolph Cemetery.
Bearers were Lloyd Shaw, Gerald Kofod, Edwin, Lawrence and Charles Cannon and Wayne Potwin.
