Mrs. Cowden was a cashier at Lawrence National Bank many years. She also was an assistant cashier at First National Bank in Tonganoxie and had worked in several Kansas City Banks.
She was born September 26, 1895, at De Soto, the daughter of Charles S. and Adda Uhl Beecroft. She spent most of her life in Lawrence.
Mrs.Cowden was a member of First United Methodist Church in Lawrence and several clubs.
She was married to Leno Cowden Aug. 20, 1927, in Bonner Springs. He died March 2, 1988.
Survivors include a sister, Edith Hassler, Honolulu, Hawaii.
Graveside services will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in Silent City Cemetery at De Soto. Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m. at Lawrence Presbyterian Manor. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. Rumsey Funeral Home in Lawrence is in charge of arrangements.
