Jennie E Wilmore was born in Darke County, Ohio, August 13, 1847. At an early age she emigrated with her parents, Wm R and Mary Wilmore to Miami County, Ind. then afterwards to Warren county and still later to Jasper county of the same state. There she received a common school education, taught school and grew to womanhood.

In 1847 she was married to W.S. Bedford at Goodland, Ind. Soon after marriage Mrs Bedford with her husband removed to Winterset, Iowa where their first child, Scott E W Bedford was born. Their second child, Daisy, was born at Hastings, Iowa. Another daughter, Lulu at Oakland, Iowa. In 1884 the family came to Kansas and soon located in Osage City, where they have since resided.

Her death occured here on Oct 3, 1914, from a complication of diseases after several weeks of anxiety on the part of her family and friends and of suffering on her part.

She is survived by her husband, son, two daughters, Mrs Geo Marriot of this place and Mrs B L Burton of Burlingame.

Mrs Bedford's neighbors are aware that she has been greatly afflicted for a period of twenty years but probably none but those most familiarly acquainted have any definie knowledge of how intense her suffering has been during a great deal of the time. The end was peaceful, her sufferings are ended, and the grief of those who are bereaved by her departure is made less poignant by their knowledge of this fact and the further reflection that the Book declares that "Better is the day of one's death than the day of one's birth."

Besides her husband and children she leaves to mourn her loss four brothers and many friends.

Her life was one of a sacrifice for the family, she was devoted to her home, always stood for the best education of her children. In the greatest pain she was cheerful, courageous and helpful. Her deeds and quiet devotions are the best testimony of her character.

The pall bearers were Wm Ramsey, Frank Colstrom, Wm Paul, Newt Lambert, Lester Jernigan, Jake and Reba Goss and Wm Brady.

Rev Jesse Wilmore of Whittier, Calif., Geo Wilmore of Emporia and C C Wimore of Buffalo, brothers of the deceased came for the funeral. Scott Bedford came from Chicago, Illinois and Dr and Mrs Barton came from Burlingame.

The funeral services were conducted by Dr Grose at the family residence on West Market Street on Monday at 2:30 pm. A large number of friends and neighbors were present to express their sympathy and pay their respects.
