Daniel C. Bechdel, 63 of Beech Creek, passed away Sunday, December 26, 2010 at his residence. He was born in Lock Haven on July 26, 1947, a son of the late William and Florence Kitchen Bechdel. He is survived by his wife Linda L. Hanley who he married on August 29, 1969 in Monument.

Dan was a truck driver for several different trucking companies. He courageously served his country in the Vietnam Conflict as a US Marine, where he received several medals including the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Beech Creek American Legion where he served as adjutant, the Howard VFW, 40 and 8 of Lock Haven, and the Lock Haven Moose Club.

He enjoyed riding his Harley, reading and camping.

Surviving, besides his wife, are a daughter; Tara L. (Shannon) Prough of Lock Haven, a son; Chad A. (Katie) Bechdel of Howard, Three sisters; Mary Lou Evers, Lois Confer and Martha Smoyer, five grandchildren; Devon, Madalyn and Aaron Bechdel, and Evan and Malory Prough, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by five brothers; Harry, Leroy, Lynn, Merle, and Donnie.

The funeral will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 30, 2010 at the Kader-Neff Funeral Home, 135 W. Main Street, Howard, Pa. with the his nephew Raymond Lowe officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 29, 2010 from 6 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Romola Cemetery, Curtin Twp. with military honors.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Susquehanna Hospice, 1100 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, Pa. 17701 or West Branch Nephrology, 1660 Sycamore Rd., Montoursville, Pa.
