Guiseppi Beccaria, 62, long-time operator of a ranch and fruit stand on Bay avenue between Capitola and Soquel, died early, this morning at a local hospital after a long illness.
Beccaria came to the Santa Cruz area from his native Italy in 1913, establishing his ranch near Capitola. His home was in Soquel.
A veteran of World War I, he was a member of Santa Cruz Post 64, American Legion, and Santa Cruz grove 142, UAO Druids.
He is survived by his widow, Piernia; a son, Frank Beccaria of Capitola, and a sister in Italy.
Last rites will be held at White's chapel at 9 a.m. Saturday; thence to St Joseph's Catholic church in Capitola, where a requiem mass will be celebrated for the repose of his soul at 9:30 a.m. Rosary will be recited in the mortuary chapel at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow. Burial will be in Holy Cross cemetery.
