Stella Carey Beavers, 81, formerly of Washington County, died Tuesday, December 2, 1998 at the Baptist East Hospital in Louisville. A native of Washington County, she was born October 18, 1917 to the late John William and Zula Devine Carey. She was a former employee of the Cowden Manufacturing Company of Springfield and was a member of the Battle Baptist Church. Survivors include: one daughter, Mrs. Dave (Patricia) Nicholas, Frankfort; one son, Carl C. Beavers, Frankfort; two brothers, John Calvin Carey, Mackville and Marvin Carey, Cardwell; four sisters, Mrs. G. T. (Ruby) McRay, Springfield, Mrs. Charles (Laura) Royalty, Louisville, Christine Carey, Mackville and Susie Mattingly of Willisburg. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Beavers on December 3, 1993 and five brothers, George Evan Carey, William Carey, Irvin Carey, Clarence Carey and James Carey. Funeral services were held Saturday, December 5, at the Cary and Son Funeral Home with Rev. Robert H. Jackson, officiating. Burial was in the Battle Cemetery.
