Virginia Byrd Beaty, 87, of Columbia died Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2001, in a Columbia nursing home.
Funeral services will be Friday, Aug. 17, 2001, at 1 pm at graveside in Prince George, Winyah, Episcopal Churchyard in Georgetown. Officiating will be the Rev. Paul C. Fuener. Burial under the direction of Mayer Funeral Home, will follow.
Mrs. Beaty was born Dec. 21, 1913,in Union, a daughter of the late Rufus Evans Byrd and Fannie Barber Byrd. She attended Draughon's Business School in Columbia. She lived at Pawleys Island and Georgetown for many years prior to moving to Columbia. She was a communicant of Prince George, Winyah, Episcopal Church.
Surviving are a brother, Howard E. Byrd of Columbia; a sister Alvis B. Ruff of West Columbia; a number of nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Robert Ernest Beaty.
