Taken from the book "Old Saint Jo": Gateway to the West 1799-1932, written
in 1979 by Sheridin A. Logan the following:

Armstrong Beattie (mayor of St. Joseph, MO) married Eliza Snoddy 1841 (in
Howard Co., MO), and they moved to Huntsville in Randolph Co., MO where he
was a merchant for 10 years..and then moved on to St. Joe.

The sister of Mrs. Armstrong Beattie was Margaret Snoddy who married Robert
Wilson (US Senator 1861-1863).

Armstrong Beattie took their son, James M. Wilson into partnership in his
bank, and after the death of Mrs. Wilson, her daughter Mary Ann was taken
to live with the Armstrong Beatties at their home at Main and Auguste
Streets, now the Memorial Home. It was there that Mary Ann Wilson was
married to Rufus L. McDonald in May 1855.

Ex-Mayor Beattie, of St. Joseph, died this morning, after a short illness.  Mr. Beattie was one of the oldest as well as one of the most generally respected citizens of our sister city, and perhaps did as much as any other man to give St. Joseph her present commercial importance.  He was at the head of the oldest and most substantial bank in the city, and it can be said of him that he has been of great use to his fellow men, his community, and to himself.
