Mr. George Franklin Bazemore, 72, of 580 Greenhill Road, died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 1994, at his residence after a short illness.
The funeral will be at 4 p.m. today at Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home, with the Revs. Don Scarborough and Joe Baker officiating. Burial will be in Screven County Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Bazemore, a native of Screven County, had retired in 1984 from the Screven County Sheriff's Department after 17 years as sheriff and 71/2 years as a deputy sheriff. He was a member of Farmdale Baptist Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Georgia Sheriff's Association. He was a life member of the Screven County Marine Rescue Squadron and a former member of the Sylvania Lions Club.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret C. Bazemore; a daughter, Diane B. Weiss, Martinez; a brother, Weyman Bazemore, Metter; two sisters, Elise B. Hagan, Newington, and Ernestine B. Tapley, Sylvania; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Daniel V. Hagan, Ricky McDaniel, Robert Bazemore, Ed Cox, Art Coon and Bill Bazemore.
Honorary pallbearers will be local law enforcement officers and the Pop's Kitchen Coffee Club of Sylvania.
