Christine Lodema Skinner Baxter, 52, of Carmel, Indiana, passed away April 26, 2004 after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. Christine was born April 22, 1952 in Tuscola, Illinois, to James Nelson and Mary Carolyn Chandler Skinner. She was a 1972 graduate of Vincennes University, and a 1974 graduate of Indiana State University. Christine was married August 24, 1974 at Old Bethel United Methodist Church in Indianapolis, to Gary Lee Baxter. Christine began her teaching career at St. James Catholic School near Edwardsville, Illinois, where she taught for 5 years. She then went to work with her father at Bankers Mortgage Corporation, where she worked for 25 years as a co-owner with her father. Mrs. Baxter is survived by her husband of 29 years, Gary Lee Baxter; daughter, Lauren Mary Elizabeth Baxter; mother, Mary Carolyn Chandler Skinner; sister, Sue Ellen Moore and her husband, Joseph; niece, Haley Rochelle Moore; and nephew, Travis Skinner Moore; her father, and grandparents, Floyd M. and Asenith Brown Chandler and Kenneth C. and Anna Taylor Skinner, preceded her in death. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Friday, April 30 at St. Luke Catholic Church, Indianapolis, of which she was a member. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday at the Church. Burial will be at Zionsville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson's Awareness Association of Central Indiana, in memory of her father, 4755 Kingsway Drive, Suite 333, Indianapolis, Indiana 46205 or Ovar'coming Together, 3050 North Meridian Street, Indianapolis, Indiana, 46208.
