Morris's mother Sarah passed away when he was 10 years old, in 1905 and was raised by his father's second wife Gussie. He and his sister Edythe were joined by Lil in 1906, Sally, then Harold in 1910, and Flo in 1912. Their mother passed away in 1916

Morris enlisted in the Army and served in the 148th Aerosquadron in France . He was based in Dunkirk.

During his service in the foward lines in France World War I he suffered from "Shell Shock"
The family history reveals that he spent many years in a Veteran's Hospital and was discharged in 1945 to serve as Godfather to his nephew Gene Baumwoll, his brother Harold's son.

Morris invested his savings and supported himself with his business accumen.
Late in life Morris travelled the world and met the love of his life Crystal, in Germany.
Morris resided there with her until his death.
~~~About the 148th Aero Squadron American Expeditionary Force France~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The 148th Aero Squadron was formed on 11 November 1917 at Kelly Field in Texas and sailed for England in February 1918.
Upon reaching France, the squadron served with the British 4th Army and its aircraft crossed over the lines of the Western Front for the first time on 20 July 1918.
By the end of the war, offensive patrols over enemy lines totalled 2,100 hours and the squadron was credited with 66 confirmed enemy aircraft destroyed with only 11 casualties. 1
