She was born October 23, 1920, in Duplin County and was the daughter of the late Charlie McLean and Malissa Chadwick Batts. She was predeceased by her husband, C.G. Ballard; son, Clarence Glenn Ballard; brother, William J. Batts and sister, Ruby Amato.
Mrs. Ballard served her country honorably as a nurse in U.S. Army. She was employed at Duplin County Health Department for thirty-seven years and was a New Hanover County Hospice Volunteer. She served on Duplin County Adult Care Community Advisory Committee. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Wallace where she sang in the Son-Shine Choir and served in the clown ministry and as a deaconess.
She is survived by her son, Robert Charles Ballard of Rose Hill; sister, Emma Green of Moultrie, GA; brother, Walter T. Batts of Mooresville, NC and sister-in-law, Sue M. Ballard of Wallace.
Memorial service will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Clay Hill Cemetery, Wallace
