Joe Lynn Bates, age 84, of Elgin passed away Saturday May 23, 2015.
Joe was born December 3, 1930 to Paul W. and Inez (Wilson) Bates in Limestone County Texas.He proudly served his Country in the United States Marine Corps. In 1978 Joe became the first Mayor or Leander, TX. Joe loved to hunt and fish, but his greatest love was his wife of 47 years, Shirley.
He is survived by his wife, daughters; Charon Reney Clayton, Renee Lynn Radney and Rachelle Lea Johnson, 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held at Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home, with a Celebration of Joe’s Life. Graveside services will follow at the Cobb Cemetery in Thornton.
