Funeral services for Hasseltine “Teen” Bates Hickson, age 87 of Fayetteville, will be conducted Thursday at 1 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home with Rev. James Kidd officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery beside her husband James M. Hickson who passed away in 2011. Mrs. Hickson passed away Tuesday afternoon in Lincoln Medical Center. She was a native of Lincoln County and the daughter of the late Luther and Rose Emmy Towry Bates.
Mrs. Hickson was a former employee of Serbin Fashions and a member of the Baptist Church.
Survivors include a brother Luther Bates and wife Mabel of Fayetteville, nephew David and wife Rita Hickson and Diane Boyett who were special family and loving caretakers as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by sisters Lou Emmy Gautney and Lydia Thrasher and four brothers William, Alton, Leon and Johnny Bates.
Visitation with the family will be Wednesday evening 5-8 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home
