ANN VIOLET WALTZ was born February 22, 1914 in Gaston, Oregon, the daughter of the late R.J. Bates and Jane (Kirby) Bates. She was raised and received her education in the Gaston community, having been a graduate of the Gaston High School Class of 1932. She was united in marriage to Homer H. Waltz on August 19, 1934 in Livingston, Montana, just outside Yellowstone National Park. Following their marriage, they lived in Madras and then Bend where Homer became Supervisor of Music in Bend Public Schools.

In 1943, the family moved to Gaston, Oregon and in 1945 to the Forest Grove community. They purchased the T.E. O'Neil Insurance and Real Estate Agency and started The Homer H. Waltz Agency. The company later became Waltz and Wieber Real Estate Company in Forest Grove, where Ann worked as a Real Estate Agent for several years, until 1973, when they retired.

Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Homer, on September 15, 1985 in Portland, Oregon, after celebrating over fifty-one years of marriage together.

She was an active member of the Forest Grove United Church of Christ (Congregational) and had served as a president of the Women's Fellowship, a member of the Forest Grove Garden Club, a member of P.E.O. DJ Chapter in Forest Grove and she was also an active volunteer of Valley Art and participated in their mailing parties.
Among her special interests she enjoyed gardening, needlework and painting.

Ann was also preceded in death by her parents, R.J. and Jane Bates, sister, Rosa Axene, and brother, Harold Bates.
