Jessie L. Bassett Dies in Her Home
Northampton, April 4 – Funeral services for Mrs. Jessie L. Bassett, 84, widow of Prof. John S. Bassett, who died Monday night at her home, 58 Pomeroy Ter. will be conducted at 2 Wednesday in the Clark Memorial Chapel at Bridge St. Cemetery and burial will be in Bridge St. Cemetery.
Long active in Democratic affairs in Northampton, Mrs. Bassett served as a member of the School Committee three terms and had been a member of the City, State and National Democratic committees. She was also a member of the League of Women Voters. Surviving are a son, Richard H. Bassett of Milton; a daughter, Mrs. Margaret B. Bassett of Bronxville, N.Y., and two grandsons.
