Mr. Bassett was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S.Army. He was a member of the Zion's Hill United Methodist Church and the American Legion in Wilton.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his son, Frederick H. Bassett of Bethel, Ct., and one daughter, Jean Zemaitis of Prospect, Ct.
