2005 obituary. CASCO - Norman E. Basselet, 55, passed away suddenly at home after a heroic battle with cancer. He was born in Lewiston, April 13, 1950 a son of Emilio H. 'Sam' and Anita B. Basselet. He was a graduate of Lewiston High School and attended the University of Maine at Orono, studying psychology and landscape architecture. On Sept. 13, 1975 he married Nancy J. Lothrop. Norm learned the upholstery trade in college as a hobby and started Norm Basselet Custom Upholstery in 1975. Norm was well renowned for his quality upholstery work throughout the State of Maine. He was active in many community programs and helped maintain the Naples Community Arena. He loved working on projects from home improvements to landscaping for himself and others. Norm enjoyed listening to his daughter play the piano. Surviving are his wife, Nancy and daughter Michelle of Casco; his brother Guy R. Basselet and his wife Rejeanne of Norway. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Friday, at the Casco Village Church UCC at 941 Meadow Rd., Casco.
