BASKIN James "Jim" Barrington Baskin, age 81, passed away on Friday, November 18, 2011. Born on December 5, 1929 in Prichard, AL to Lennie M. Hearn and William C. Baskin, reared in Citronelle, AL. He attended Springhill College then transferred to the University of Alabama, graduating in 1949. He taught school in Citronelle then served in the USAF 1950-51. He returned to the U of A and received a degree in Pulp and Paper Technology in 1956. He joined Huyck Felt Co. starting up a new plant in Aliceville, AL. While there he served as President and State Director for the Aliceville Jaycees and as Scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts. He was selected outstanding Rural Scoutmaster, Southeastern Region. Huyck transferred him to Birmingham, AL and then to Rennsalear, NY where he served as a Service Engineer. He later formed his own manufacturing agency based in Mobile. After selling this agency he was then President of Lamb, INC. He retired in 1979. After being idle for several years he became an Investment Advisor with IDS before joining others in opening their own office. He permanently retired in 2000. He was a member and past Commander of the Mobile Sail & Power Squadron, a unit of the United Stated Power Squadron. He is survived by his loving wife Betty and a son Barry (Nadine), stepdaughter Cindy (Bart) and grandchildren Lauren, Britney and Brantley Manning and Jonathan Baskin.
