Religious Leader, Bible Teacher, writer, editor. Don Basham was one of the leaders of the Charismatic Movement in the 1960 to the 1980's. At first a Minister of the Disciples of Christ Church he served as a Pastor in Washington, D.C., Toronto, Canada; and Sharon, Pennsylvania. In 1967 he published his first book, Face Up With A Miracle, a biographical account of encountering the Holy Spirit. He soon left the active pastorate to begin an international ministry of Bible Teaching and writing. In 1970 he joined with Derek Prince, Bob Mumford, Ern Baxter, and Charles Simpson in a covenant relationship of oversight and ministry to each other. Together they took over the leadership of the Holy Spirit Teaching Ministry. Later it became the Christian Growth Ministries. From 1975 to 1981 he was the editor of New Wine magazine, one of the leading publications of the Charismatic movement. He relocated to Mobile, Alabama where he was associated with Integrity Ministry. Controversy followed Don's ministry, first through his teaching on the deliverance from demonic spirits and then through the failure of the Shepherding movement. Don wrote sixteen books and numerous articles on the Christian life. He was married to Alice Rolling. They had five children.
