Mary emogene "Fatty" (Howard) Basham


Mary emogene "Fatty" (Howard) Basham 85, of Owensboro, journeyed to the Promise Land at Heartland Villa on July 11, 2008. She was born May 27, 1923 in Whitesville, KY., to James and Myrtle Fuqua Howard. She was the last remaining child of her family of 7 children. She worked for Servel in producing military aircrafts during WW11, and retired from General Electric. She was a member of St. Stephens Cathedral in Owensboro, KY.

Mary leaves 2 children, Marily Gayle Simpson of Dracut, Mass and James Howard Calvert and wife Sandy of Hawesville, KY., 6 Grandchildren which one, James Calvert Jr. who preceded her in death on August 21, 1996. She will be buried at Cloverport Cemetery on Monday, July 14, 2008 next to her beloved husband, Louis R. Henderson, who passed away in 1979. Like the fragrance of spring she was God's gift to us all. Her philosophy can best be summed up with the words she so often used "We should be grateful for what we've got", and "That's the way the mop flops." She was a sweetheart and her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.

Funeral Services will be Monday, July 14, 2008 at 1:00 PM at Burns Funeral Home in Cloverport, KY. Visitations will also be Monday starting at 10:00 AM till funeral time.
