Linda Barrett Peeples, 82, widow of Vanderbilt Peeples, died at her residence Sunday January 30, 2011.
Born in rural Manning SC she was a daughter of the late John Edward and Hattie Lee Cutter Barrett. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church and Faith Sunday School Class. She was a graduate of Columbia Commercial Junior College. She retired after 38 years with a Federal Lending Agency of the Department of Agriculture.
Surviving are her son John Vanderbilt Peeples of Irmo, SC, daughter Tamra Peeples Smith and her husband Stan of Sumter, SC. Grandchildren, John Vanderbilt Peeples Jr. and his wife Kim, Stephen Lee Peeples and friend Jennifer Jastromski, Meghan Caroline Peeples, Matthew Kirk Smith, Nicole Ashleigh Smith, and Sarah Elizabeth Smith. Three great grandchildren, Amanda Elizabeth, Abigail Christina, and Zachary John Peeples. One sister, Sophie Barrett Starling of Columbia, SC., beloved sister in law Mildred D. Barrett, brother in law Herman H. Peeples, sisters in law Dee Gallatan, Amelia Peeples, numerous nieces and nephews, special dear friends Avis Dominy and husband Richard and Betsy Knox and husband Larry.
She was predeceased by five brothers and three sisters.
Services will be held Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at Grace Baptist Church at 11:00am with the Reverends Rich Dantzler and Steve Shumake officiating. A private inurnment service will take place at a later time for the immediate family.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 1, 2011 from 6:00-8:00pm at Bullock Funeral Home on Wilson Hall Road in Sumter, SC and other times at the home of daughter Tamra Smith.
Pallbearers will be grandsons; John Peeples Jr., Stephen Peeples and Matthew Smith. Nephews; John Barrett, Michael Wax, and James Neeley. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Faith Sunday School Class.
