Edward C. Barrett, age 81, of Dayton, PA, passed away on Friday, August 5, 2011, at Back to Basics Personal Care in Dayton, PA.
He was born on August 5, 1930, in Wayne Twp., Armstrong Co., to Russell and Lucille (Wadding) Barrett.
Edward was a lifetime resident of Wayne Twp. and graduated from Dayton High School in 1948. He worked for Miller Equipment in Fairmount City for 35 years as a John Deere equipment retail dealer. A hard worker, Edward also owned and operated the family dairy and beef farm. He was a dedicated member of the Dayton Glade Run Presbyterian Church for many years and previously served the congregation as an elder. Camping outside brought Edward great joy, though not compared to the happiness he felt when spending time with his family. His devotion to them was evident, and they will never forget his love for them.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, M. Maxine (Bowser) Barrett, who he married September 26, 1959; daughter, Pamela Egley and husband Alan, of Apollo; grandchildren, Ryan Barrett, Jessi Costello, Lexi Nolf and Lacee Barrett; great-grandchildren, Tim Barrett, Marshall Nolf, Sophia and Caden Costello, and Raelyn Harkleroad; and brothers, Richard Barrett, of Dayton, William Barrett, of Smicksburg and Russell Barrett, of Dayton.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents; son, Timothy E. Barrett who died in August 2002; and sister, Maxine Bucko.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM on Sunday, August 7, 2011 at the Bauer-Bly Funeral Home, 125 East Main Street, Dayton, PA.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Monday, August 8, 2011 at Dayton Glade Run Presbyterian Church, 2540 Dayton Smicksburg Road, Dayton, PA with the Rev. Laurie Milligan officiating.
Burial will be in Dayton Glade Run Presbyterian Cemetery, Wayne Twp., Armstrong Co.
