At the time of her passing, which was caused by leukemia that she had been battling since her diagnosis following tonsil removal surgery six months prior, she was a student at Shawnee High School in Shawnee, OK.
In a strange coincidence, while registered as a patient at the Oklahoma University Hospital, a Barbara Lou Barrett (#47661056) was not only a patient on the same floor as her, but she had died on the exact day but hours later after suffering from meningitis. Although they had never met nor are they related to each other, they were both described as being tall with blue eyes & blonde hair.
The oddity was discovered by their parents during a mail mix-up.
