Asheville - C. Ray Barr, 95, formally of Onteora Blvd., died Saturday, Aug. 21, 2010, in the WNC Baptist Home. A native of Pleasant Hill, Mo., he was son of the late Lester Lee and Purney Kinman Barr. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Kathryn Stogsdill Barr and one brother.

Mr. Barr was a U.S. Air Force Veteran having served in WW II. He retired in 1981 from the National Climatic Data Center where he was supervisor of computer programmers. He was a member of the First Christian Church since 1953, serving as an Elder Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, and on many church committees. Charles loved refinishing old furniture, which he completed a number of pieces for the church.

He is survived by two daughter and a son-inlaw, Patricia and James Bolick of Waynesville and Brenda Brackett of Asheville; two sisters and one brother, all of Missouri; three granddaughters, two grandsons; one great-granddaughter and five greatgrandsons.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 25, 2010, in the Chapel of Morris Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dr. Tom Everton officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, 304 Merrimon Avenue. Interment will follow at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory.
