Found in the Statesville Daily Record (Statesville, North Carolina) 08 Aug 1944: Funeral services were held yesterday morning at 11 o'clock at Bethpage Presbyterian church for Mrs. Edna L. Walker, 59, of Route 1, Kannapolis, who passed away Saturday at the Cabarrus hospital after an illness of several days. Mrs. Walker was the mother of Charles E. Walker, manager of Efird's store, of this city. The service was conducted by her pastor, Rev. D. O. McInnis and assisted by Rev. Charles A. Phillips. Mrs. Walker was the daughter of the late N. M. and Alice Carrell Barnhardt. Surviving Mrs. Walker are her husband, C. R. Walker; three sons, Herman L. Walker of Charlotte; Charles E. Walker of Statesville, and Harold N. Walker of Concord, and one sister, Mrs. Olin Cruse of Route Two, Rockwell.
