ETHEL YVONNE "MIDGE" BARNES
MOUNDVILLE-Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada for Ethel Yvonne "Midge" Barnes, 90, Moundville, who died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, at Barone Alzheimer's Care Center in Nevada, following a lengthy illness. Rev. Terry Mosher will officiate. Burial will be in Welborn Cemetery in Moundville.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include her husband, Claude Barnes, of the home; a daughter, Joyce Thompson, Lafayette, La.; a son, Jerry Janes and wife Carol, Moundville; a stepdaughter, Sandra Price, Nevada; several grandchildren, step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother.
Mrs. Barnes was born June 20, 1922, in Liberal, to James T. and Ethel (Hornecker) Shrimplin. She attended the Bethel country school and graduated from Bronaugh High School in 1940. She worked for the Nevada State Hospital for several years in the telephone office. She was a member of the Moundville Methodist Church and a lifelong resident of Vernon County.
She married Leasel Merl Janes in 1939. He died in 1976. She married Claude E. Barnes in 1979.
