Doyle (Barney) Oris Barnes passed away November 6, 2012 in his Woodburn, OR home. He was 88 years old. Born April 2, 1924 in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Son of parents Oris Cyril Barnes & Bertie Wood, now deceased.

His parents moved to Junction City, OR when he was a teenager where he attended Junction City High School. In 1943, he joined the United States Coast Guard. He worked as a cook on several ships during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1945.

In 1944 married MayBelle (Nancy) Palmer. They lived briefly in Newport, Toledo & Eugene, Or but mostly in Portland, OR.

On April 21, 2000 he married Barbara Reed Hartman living for a short time in Portland and then they moved to Woodburn, OR.

He is survived by his wife Barbara, sister Geraldine Panier, daughters Patricia Stanfill and Dee Cockerham, sons Brian, Steve & Brad Foster. He has 12 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren.

Barney was noted for always having a smile on his face and a joke (probably a corny joke) to tell you. One of the things he loved doing was writing, directing and acting in plays for the Wrinkled City Players. He was also very active including Head Usher at Woodburn United Methodist Church. His cooking talents were often called upon to make his famous chili and pancake breakfasts for the attendees of church functions and at Estates Golf & Country Club.

Graveside service at Willamette National Cemetery will be on Friday, November 16 @ 12 noon.

Survived by wife, Barbara; sister, Geraldine Panier; daughters, Patty Stanfill and Dee Cockerham; stepsons, Brian, Steve and Brad Foster. Memorial service will be at Woodburn United Methodist Church, Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012, 11:30 a.m.
