Mrs. Virginia Pitcock Barnes, 72, died Feb. 26 in Baltimore, Maryland, after a short illness.

The funeral was March 2 at Higgins Funeral Home. The Rev. Don Thomas and the Rev. David Watson officiated and burial was in Riverview Memorial Gardens.

She was a native of Lincoln County, a daughter of the late Richard and Annie Askins Pitcock and was the widow of Mitchell Barnes. Mrs. Barnes was a retired employee of Jonathan Logan Manufacturing Co., and a member of Fayetteville Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by a son, Robert (Sonny) Barnes of Baltimore; five sisters, Mrs. Alta Wade of Madison and Mrs. Etta Smith, Mrs. Martha Ann Burgett, and Mrs. Agnes Edde, all of Nashville, and Mrs. Lula Henning of Winchester; two brothers, G. W. (Buck) Pitcock of Fayetteville and John Pitcock of Valdosta, Ga.; two grandchildren and a great grandchild.
