Burial was in Riverview Memorial Gardens, with Higgins Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Barnes died early Thursday at the Lincoln County Hospital after a long illness.
He was a native of Lincoln County and a member of the Methodist Church. He had been an employee of the City of Fayetteville for a number of years. His wife, Mrs. Mamie Hutchinson Barnes, died in 1944.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. C. D. Simmons, Fayetteville; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
