Anita Barnard
Anita Barnard, 71, of Amarillo, died Thursday, Nov. 26, 1998.

Services were at 10 a.m. Monday in First Baptist Church with Chester
O'Brien of the church officiating. Burial was in Llano Cemetery by
Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St.

Mrs. Barnard was born in Hedley and moved to Amarillo in 1940. She
graduated from Amarillo High School. After 39 years, she retired as
manager of operator services of Southwestern Bell Telephone. She was a
member of the American Business Women's Association, First Baptist
Church, First Baptist Church Heritage Choir and Southwestern Bell
Telephone Pioneers.

She married Leon Barnard in 1947 in Amarillo. He preceded her in
death.

Survivors include a daughter, Janeann Mott of Amarillo; a son, Dale L.
Barnard of Amarillo; her mother, Elsie Burdine of Amarillo; two
sisters, Rouena Montgomery and Ralene Talley, both of Amarillo; and
three grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be to the American Cancer Society, 3915
S. Bell, Amarillo, TX 79109.
