Born September 6, 1928 in Brooklyn, NY and raised in North Bellmore, NY, Margie was a bookkeeper most of her life, last working for Sebago Glass in Bay Shore, NY.
Her real passion and work, though, was her devotion to her four children and seven grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband, Philip Altherr. She is cherished by her four children and their spouses; Michael Altherr, Elizabeth (James) Smith, Stacey Altherr, and John Altherr and his wife, Donna Mino.
She is loved and adored by her seven grandchildren; Rebecca, Amelia, Luke, Tania, Jack, Roman and Theo. She is also survived by her brother Frank Barley and sisters Edith Sourbeck (Don), Jeannette Carleton (Herbert), Anne Verity (Curtis).
Reposing at The Branch Funeral Home, Miller Place, NY. Service at Saint Anselm's Episcopal Church, Shoreham, NY. Burial to follow Pinelawn Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Long Island Alzheimer's Foundation.
