The son of Lewis and Gay Barker. Grandson of Ward and Hermine Barker.

Brother to David Barker

He was killed on a scout outing. He was sitting under a tree to take cover from the rain when the tree was hit by lightening killing him and another boy scout.

Clint Lewis Barker, 14, of Brigham City was killed by lightning Friday, August 2, 1991 near Island Lake in the Uinta Wilderness.

He was born October 26, 1976 in Ogden, a son of Lewis Groberg and Gay Belle Curtis Barker. He would have been a freshman, this fall, at Box Elder High School. He was a teacher in the Aaronic Priesthood in the Brigham City 20th Ward. Had spent most of his life in the Farwest 2nd Ward. He played the clarinet in the school band for two years. In the 6th grade he received the Kiwanis "Hope of America" award in the Farwest Elementary School. He attended a summer workshop for gifted and talented students in computer math at Weber High School. He loved fishing, hiking, horseback riding and sports, particularly basketball. He had just finished breaking his own horse. While on the camping trip he was completing the final requirements for his Eagle Scout Award.Surviving are his parents, Brigham City; one brother, four sisters, Blake and Tanya Barker, age 8; Lindy Barker, age 17; Mitzi Barker, age 12; Terra Barker, age 4; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. L. Ward Barker, North Ogden; Mr. and Mrs. Norman H. Curtis, Salt Lake City; also survived by many close aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Brigham City 20th Ward Chapel, 650 Anderson Drive, with Bishop C. Richard Dunn officiating. Friends may call at the Myers Mortuary in Ogden, 845 Washington Blvd., Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday, at the church from 8:45 to 9:45 a.m. Interment: North Ogden Ben Lomond Cemetery where graveside services will be conducted by Bishop Marty Stephens.
