August Friedrich Wilhelm Barfknecht was born in Germany to Wilhelm Friedrich Ferdinand Barfknecht and Augustina Friederike Kell on 4 September 1867. He immigrated to the United States when he was 5 years old with his parents and sister Wilhelmina in 1872. He lived in Wausau, WI for most of his life. He never married. He worked as a machinist. He applied for citizenship in 1937. He died in a convalescent home in Green Bay, WI at age 92.
