Birth: 1847
Georgia, USA
Death: Sep. 24, 1921
Worth County
Georgia, USA

1880 US Census, Worth County, says Moses' father was born in N.C. and his mother in S.C. His father was Solomon Barfield and his mother, Elvina and/or Elva Powell (dau of Nathan Powell and Charity Bird Powell. It is possible Moses was married twice. His first wife was Julia Ann Phillips (1855-1942). Together they had 2 children according to several US Fed. census records. They were: King Solomon Barfield (1870-1973)and James Henderson Barfield (1875-1954). One newspaper article gives Sol's birth year as 1865 instead of 1870. Moses was a CSA soldier (private) in the 1st Regiment, Ga. Infantry. Moses and Julia Ann supposedly married in 1868. Moses' 2nd wife was Mary Cathrine Barfield and they had the following children, according to various US censuses: Luther Green (1890-1971); Lily (1892); Lillo Berfield (1894); Lola Shiver (1899-); Lovely Berfield (1899-); Henderson Berfield (1901-); and Jessie C. Barfield Sr. (1903-1981).

Ga. death certificate no. 24373-C states that Moses B Barfield died in 1921 in Worth County and was buried at Salem Cemetery as follows:

Julia Phillips Barfield had only the 2 sons with Moses Barfield. Moses married Mary Catherine Barfield after Julia's death and had more children as noted above.
