Mrs. Gaines was found dead by her husband, John Francis Gaines, of the Daytona Beach office of the Florida Power and Light Company, when he returned home for lunch. She had not been in normal health for some time, though not regarded as being seriously ill.
Mrs. Gaines, age 36, was reared in Palatka, and was a graduate of the Putnam High School. Following her marriage to Mr. Gaines they resided here, and in Jacksonville and McClenny and more recently in Daytona Beach. She was a member of the Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, John Francis Gaines; two sons, John and Bill of Daytona Beach; her mother, Mrs. W. M. Barco, formerly of Palatka, now of Miami; and one sister, Mrs. C. C. Murray of Palatka. (Palatka Times-Herald Obituary dtd Friday, 1 Mar 1947.)
