James R. Barclay Sr., 84, of Eastlake, joined his loving wife, Emma in Heaven on their 63rd wedding anniversary, Jan. 29, 2012.
Born Nov. 20, 1927, in Cleveland, he had been a resident of Eastlake for the past 55 years.
He was a life member of the American Legion Post 678 in Willowick, Eastlake Vets, V.F.W. Post 3863, and Knights of Columbus in Euclid, and a member of St. Mary Magdalene Church since 1957, and the Boulevard of 500 Flags Committee in Eastlake.
Mr. Barclay retired in 1987 as a supervisor at CEI in Euclid.
Survivors are his children, Kathy (Joe) Zalar, Karen (Lew) Bedford, Jim Jr. (Mickey) Barclay, Colleen (Bernie) Oldenburgh; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, John Schuller and Cecil Woodburn; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Emma P. Barclay (Stimson); and sisters, Charlotte Schuller, Patricia (David) Gozdinsky and Alice Woodburn.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at Monreal Funeral Home, 35400 Curtis Blvd., Eastlake.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Heartland Hospice, 4807 Rockside Road, Independence, OH 44131 or to the Boulevard of 500 Flags, City of Eastlake Flag Fund, 35150 Lakeshore Blvd., Eastlake, OH 44095.
Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary Magdalene Church, 460 E. 321 St., Willowick. Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township.
