ANNA MAE ALVORD COOKSON BARB

HAMILTON—The funeral for Anna Mae Cookson Barb, 89, a lifetime resident of Hamilton, will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the Wilson Funeral Home at Madison. The Rev. Tom Miller will conduct the service. Burial will be in Janesville Cemetery, west of Hamilton. The family will meet friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
The family suggests that, instead of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Hamilton Library or the Hamilton Senior Center and sent in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 488, Madison, KS 66860.
Mrs. Barb, a homemaker, died Monday, Dec. 6, 2004, at the Holiday Resort in Emporia.
The daughter of R. Eugene and Jessie J. McClintock Alvord, she was born May 5, 1915, in rural Hamilton. She married James W. Cookson on Feb. 28, 1933, in El Dorado. He died Sept. 20, 1971. She married Lisle D. Barb on July 25, 1988, in Emporia. He died March 3, 2003.
Mrs. Barb was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Hamilton.
She is survived by three sons, Dan Cookson of Madison, Dick Cookson of Toronto and Truman Cookson of Alva, Okla.; three daughters, Doris Roach of Emporia, Rosella Boone of Dennis and Kathy Deacon of Augusta; 13 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.
Two sons, James W. Cookson Jr. and John A. "Doc" Cookson, died earlier, as did three brothers and one sister died earlier.
