Anna (Mobilia) Bannon, 94, of Newington, formerly of West Hartford, died Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at Hartford Hospital while surrounded by her family following a sudden illness. She was the loving wife for almost sixty-three years of the late Harold F. Bannon, Sr.

Anna was the daughter of the late Domenicangelo and Maria Crisignana (Palmieri) Mobilia, immigrants from Italy.

Anna graduated from Bulkeley High School in three and a half years. She participated in many school activities and was a member of the National Honor Society.

Anna was the Unit Supervisor of the Certification Unit, which was responsible for promulgating employment lists and verifying that appointments were in compliance with merit system regulations.

Anna was a member of Saint Augustine's Church in Hartford until she moved to West Hartford and joined St. Brigid's Church and Ladies Guild.

For years, she attended exercise classes at the Elmwood Senior Center. Anna enjoyed cooking, family gatherings, reading novels, and watching the UCONN men and women's basketball teams.

Anna was a constant source of inspiration to her family and friends. She was always positive and cheerful, kind, and willing to listen or help anyone.

A loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she leaves behind her sons, Charles A. Bannon of Farmington and Harold F. Bannon, Jr. and his wife, Deborah of Rocky Hill; and five grandchildren, Ted Bannon of Georgia, Brian Bannon and his wife, Rene, of South Carolina, Ellynne Bannon of Colorado, Cara Shelton and her husband, Shane, of Lawrenceville, Georgia; Jill Young and her husband, Steven, of Grayson, Georgia; and eight great-grandchildren.
