KNOXVILLE An Oak Ridge man was killed in a fatal motorcycle crash Tuesday on Kingston Pike in Knoxville.

Knoxville Police Department spokesman Darrell DeBusk said in a press release that the victim in the crash was 43-year-old Christopher Bannach of Oak Ridge. The passenger on Bannach's Harley-Davidson motorcycle was Eugenia Barnes, 40. DeBusk didn't release other information about Barnes. She was taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center at Knoxville.DeBusk said the crash happened at 5:28 p.m. when the motorcycle crashed into a Jeep Liberty that was pulling out from Chili's restaurant. Witnesses said another vehicle ran the red light there, causing the Jeep to stop and avoid a crash with that vehicle. But the motorcycle also ran the light and crashed into the side of the Jeep. Preston Linehan, 19, of Knoxville, was driving the Jeep. He and his mother, Georgia Linehan, 47, rendered aid and prayed with the motorcyclists as emergency personnel were en route, DeBusk said in the press release. Both mother and son were treated for minor injuries. DeBusk said the investigation into the crash is ongoing, but no charges are expected.
