BANKS - Raymond M. Banks, 76, Cherry Valley, died Tuesday night May 14, 1974 in St. Anthony's Hospital after a brief illness. Born Jan. 4, 1898, in Irene, son of George and Elva (Brown) Banks. Lived in Cherry Valley for the last 44 years, coming there from Irene. Married to the former Blanche Roach Jan. 4, 1919, in Rockford. He ws a retired chief jailer for the Winnebago County Sheriff's Department. Member of Flora Church and of Cherry Valley Masonic Lodge No. 173 AF&AM and Cherry Valley Chapter No. 478, OES. Attended Boone County public schools. Survivors include his widow, Blanche; two daughters, Mrs. Catheine Johnson, Rockford; and Mrs. Dorothy Allton, Loves Park; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Frank, Lloyd, Gerson, Edward, Alfred, and Herman; a sister Mrs. Sadie Lindstrom; and two daughters, Betty Rae, and Maxine Banks.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m,. Thursday, May 16, in the Witbeck-Wheeler-Sobien Funeral Home, 203 Logan Ave., Belvidere. Burial will be in Flora Cemetery. No visitation.
