Mr. J. H. Banks, a Prominent Citizen of the Town, Found Dead in Bed.
Gainesville, Ga., July 20, - Mr. J. H. Banks, of this city, was found dead in his bed about 5 o'clock this morning.
He was on the streets on yesterday and was apparently enjoying his usual health.
Mr. banks was one of the wealthiest and oldest citizens of Gainesville, having lived in the is city for about sixty-five years. he was born in Elbert county, Georgia, and came to this city in his infancy. He was generally known throughout northeast Georgia as the senior member of the firm of J. H. Banks and Brother, who were engaged in the banking business.
Mr. Banks was in many respects a remarkable man. He was of strong mind and of strong convictions. He was educated at Frankfort, Kentucky, and took first honor at the close of his collegiate term. He was a man of unusual executive ability, having amassed during his life in Gainesville a very considerable fortune. He was recognized as the wealthiest man in Hall County.
He leaves a wife, three daughters and one son. He will be buried at Alta Vista cemetery tomorrow morning.
