Obituary


GORDO Nota Jewel Springer, age 95, of Gordo, died April 27, 2013, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Dunns Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Don Springer, Rev. Max Stripling, and Rev. Alfred Banks officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to services at the church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Louis Springer; son-in-law, Richard Bailey; her parents; brothers, Lewis Banks and Verlie Banks; and an infant daughter.

Survivors include her daughters, Cherrye Ravenelle Boswell (Gene), Annie Pearl Bailey, Elaine Stripling (Max), and Glenna Clements (Gene); son, Lynwod Springer (LuAnn); sister-in-law, Bert Springer; brother-in-law, Clarence Hitt; 11 grandchildren, Mike Boswell (Vanessa), Alan Boswell (Leigh), Dennis Boswell, Monica Byars (Billy), Paige Sharp (Keith), Thad Stripling (Dawn), Lance Stripling (Stephanie), Katy Harshman, Heath Clements (Lisa), Holli Homan (Adam), and Hannah Shirley (Brad); and 20 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Springer was born September 22, 1917, in Tuscaloosa
County, Alabama, to the late Andrew Banks and Eloise Lewis Banks. She was the oldest member of Dunns Creek Baptist Church and a homemaker. She was a devoted and loving wife for 67 years to her husband, and a devoted and loving mother and Maw Maw. She was the rock of her family. There will never be another mother and grandmother like her.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Mike Boswell, Alan Boswell, Dennis Boswell, Thad Stripling, Lance Stripling, and Heath Clements.

Honorary pallbearers are friends and neighbors, Dr. John Brandon and staff, Dr. Anne Lewis, Diane Burkhalter, special friends, Nancy Hughes, and Gladys Free, Senior Adult Ladies Sunday School Class at Dunns Creek Baptist Church, Mary Lee Barrett, Jane Ammons, Debbie Driver, and staff of The Radiology Clinic.
